AFIR Disburses Nearly €53 Million to Support Rural Development Projects

The Romanian Agency for Financing Rural Investments (AFIR) disbursed approximately €52,985,740 to farmers, processors, entrepreneurs, and local authorities on April 14, 2025.

These payments are part of investment projects funded through the National Rural Development Programme 2014–2020 (PNDR 2020).

Out of the total amount, €43.8 million represent non-reimbursable funds from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), while €7.3 million came from the Romanian state budget.

The payments cover investments carried out under PNDR 2020, which has a completion deadline of September 30, 2025. These investments include agricultural holdings and processing units (Measure 4), support for young farmers and rural enterprises (Measure 6), and rural infrastructure, education, and cultural development (Measure 7).

Funds were also allocated for the establishment of producer groups (Measure 9), support for cooperation projects (Measure 16), agricultural insurance premiums for crops, livestock, and plants (Measure 17), and the LEADER initiative (Measure 19).
