APIA Begins Payment Authorization for Animal Welfare Support under the PAC 2023-2027 Strategic Plan

The Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) has announced the start of payment authorization for beneficiaries who submitted applications under Intervention DR-06 – Animal Welfare Support, specifically:

• Package a) Payments for pig welfare
• Package b) Payments for poultry welfare

As of now, a total of €87,066,180 has been authorized for 369 beneficiaries, distributed as follows:

• €28,242,870 for pig welfare
• €58,823,310 for poultry welfare

Payments are made in Romanian lei (RON) at the exchange rate of 4.9756 RON/EUR, as set by the European Central Bank on December 29, 2023, and published in the Official Journal of the European Union (Series C No. 1/03.01.2024).

🔹 Important Notice: For the 2024 Campaign, payments for Intervention DR-06 will be handled by the Agency for Rural Investment Financing (AFIR).

The Animal Welfare Support is a compensatory payment designed to offset income losses and additional costs incurred by farmers. It is provided as an annual fixed payment per Livestock Unit (LU).
