Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) Announces Emergency Financial Support for Sheep/Goat Farming Sector
The Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) informs that between March 3 and March 6, 2025, a total of 5,655 applications for emergency financial support in agriculture have been received through APIA Centers. These applications, aimed at assisting the sheep/goat farming sector affected by adverse climatic conditions, represent 62% of the estimated number of requests.
This financial support scheme applies throughout Romania and is intended to compensate agricultural producers in the sheep/goat farming sector for economic losses caused by unfavorable climatic events, specifically the agricultural drought experienced between September 2023 and August 2024.
Farmers are reminded that applications must be submitted at the county/local APIA Centers or the APIA Center in Bucharest by March 21, 2025, inclusive.
The total financial resources allocated for this emergency support scheme amount to 238,795,200 lei (equivalent to 48,000,000 euros, based on an exchange rate of 4.9749 lei per euro).
The emergency financial support is set at 248 lei per head of female young sheep/goat and is granted for a livestock population ranging from 50 to 300 heads per farm with an ANSVSA code, per beneficiary.
Applicants with more than 300 heads of female young sheep/goat will receive emergency financial support for a maximum of 300 heads per beneficiary, provided that they own at least 50 heads of female young sheep or goats per farm with an ANSVSA code.
