The action carried out by the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) at the national level resulted in the verification of 1,285 authorized or registered sanitary veterinary and food safety objectives.

The action, coordinated by the ANSVSA leadership, involved inspectors from ANSVSA and from the county-level Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Directorates (DSVSA).

The deviations identified by ANSVSA inspectors were sanctioned by imposing 224 administrative fines, totaling 1,615,100 lei. Six orders were issued to suspend activities, and six orders were issued to cease activities.

Specifically, during April 28-29, the inspections conducted by ANSVSA inspectors targeted: 723 public catering units, 93 tourist guesthouses, 16 catering units, 42 confectionery/pastry units, 55 confectionery laboratories, 90 supermarket/hypermarket units, 165 grocery stores, and 101 other types of units.

In order to prevent foodborne illnesses and protect consumer health, sanitary veterinary and food safety inspectors examined the hygiene conditions under which various types of food products and culinary preparations intended for human consumption are received, stored, prepared, and marketed.

Additionally, a quantity of 344 kg of food products (meat and meat products, fish and fish products, eggs, dairy products, and composite products) was confiscated and rendered unfit, as they presented a potential risk to consumer health.

The main identified non-compliances that were sanctioned included:

  • Lack of registration documents;
  • Failure to comply with hygiene requirements;
  • Expired products;
  • Improper labeling;
  • Selling products without complying with temperature conditions;
  • Lack of documentation to demonstrate traceability.

To report irregularities in the field of food safety, ANSVSA provides citizens with the telephone number of its "Call Center" - 0800 826 787 - which can be called free of charge from any telephone network.
