The inspection teams of the Summer Season Command 2023, as part of their control activities, are inspecting public catering and retail units while also providing guidance to businesses regarding compliance with sanitary veterinary and food safety legislation to ensure a climate of food safety.
In their actions, the inspectors are supported logistically by the self-laboratory of the County Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate (DSVSA) in Constanța for sample collection whenever the situation requires it or there are suspicions regarding compliance with hygiene conditions.
A blitz action took place yesterday evening, June 29, in a large shopping center in the city of Constanța, considering the high number of tourists who dine in such food establishments.
Since the start of the Command's activities, 151 operators in the food service and retail of food products have been inspected, of which 66 have also received specialized advice.
Between June 26 and June 29, 38 penalties were imposed, totaling 441,200 lei. An Activity Suspension Order was issued for a restaurant in Costinești, and a brasserie in Mamaia Sud had its activity prohibited.
Food products totaling 218 kg (beef, chicken, fish, fish products, and ice cream) were confiscated and directed to disposal units.
Non-compliance issues identified included the lack of veterinary sanitary and food safety registration documents, expiration date exceeded, improper storage, and inadequate hygiene of storage and food preparation areas.
Through the Constanța County DSVSA, the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) provides the phone number of the Summer Season Command: 0786 577 007. Interested parties can report incidents or obtain information regarding various aspects of food safety.
