A conference titled "The Contribution of the Scientific Community to Risk Assessment Across the Food Chain" was held in Bucharest, organized by the Focal Point of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in Romania.
The event was attended by a representative from the European Commission, as well as representatives from 22 national institutions, including universities, faculties, research institutes, and competent authorities responsible for food safety, health, animal welfare, and representatives of relevant associations.
The conference aimed to support the formation of scientific networks at the national level, foster collaboration between the scientific community and decision-makers in the field of food safety, strengthen scientific cooperation with EFSA, and integrate the national scientific environment within the European framework.
Key topics discussed at this event included: information on scientific trends addressed by EFSA and its member states, promotion of collaboration opportunities with EFSA, modern risk assessment tools and methods, risks associated with food allergies, new challenges in food safety, animal health, biosecurity, and antimicrobial resistance.
Additionally, the event featured a poster session covering various themes related to food safety, health, and animal welfare.
The conference provided a platform for interaction between scientists, educators, and risk managers in Romania, aiming to develop common approaches within EFSA's areas of responsibility and encourage Romanian experts to participate in EFSA activities.
