In September 2025, the control authorities – ANPC, ANSVSA, and the county veterinary sanitary directorates – launched a series of coordinated inspections in processing units, slaughterhouses, packaging centers, and cold storage facilities.
According to the joint press release issued on September 4, the priority topics concern product traceability, compliance with labeling regulations, the hygienic-sanitary condition of facilities, and the validity of conformity documents.
In the first week of the campaign, 356 units were inspected, 94 fines were imposed, and 12 temporary closures were ordered. Most irregularities were recorded in southeastern counties, particularly in small units with seasonal activity.
The authorities announced that the campaign will continue until the end of the month and will be extended to agri-food markets and logistics centers around major cities. Operators are advised to update their food safety documentation and review their internal sanitation procedures.
