Mr. Cornel Turcescu has been appointed General Director of the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture. Previously, he also held this position for a period after Mr. Adrian Pintea moved to the position of State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR).

A graduate of the Faculty of Sciences at Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, specializing in Mathematics and Computer Science, Mr. Turcescu has also held the following positions:

• Head of Service for Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Control - Directorate for Control and Authorization of Area Payments, Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (A.P.I.A.) - Central Office,
• Advisor in the Directorate for Control and Authorization of Area Payments (D.C.A.P.S.), Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (A.P.I.A.) - Central Office,
• Advisor (field control inspector) at the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (A.P.I.A.) - Vâlcea County Center.

He has also worked in the private sector, serving as an IT engineer at S.C. TRANSVIL S.A. and as a software testing engineer at S.C. ASSYSTEM S.R.L.
