Digitalization is becoming an essential element for dairy factories that wish to remain competitive on the European market. According to the International Dairy Federation, factories that have implemented digital production monitoring solutions have reduced technological losses by 15% and increased productivity by 20%.
In Romania, only 25% of factories use integrated digital systems, which limits efficiency and the ability to respond to market demands. The Ministry of Agriculture supports investments in digitalization with grants of up to €500,000, but the absorption rate remains low. “Digitalization is no longer an option, but a condition for staying in the market,” said a MADR consultant.
Examples from France and the Netherlands show that full digitalization enables real-time traceability, cost optimization, and rapid integration into external markets. For Romania, the challenge lies in access to financing and staff training.
Nevertheless, the advantages are clear: cost reduction, improved quality, and increased consumer confidence. In the coming years, digitalization will be decisive for the survival and development of Romanian dairy factories.
