The Largest Program Supporting Local Small Producers Expands to Iași County

Starting this month, the most extensive program supporting small local producers is expanding to Iași County. Profi has officially launched the "Shelf of Local Delights" in selected stores in Iași, Pașcani, and Hârlău.

Local producers are encouraged to bring their traditionally crafted delicacies into modern retail, making it easier for them to reach consumers directly.

Thanks to this initiative launched by the Romanian Profi retail network, small local producers can continue passing on the legacy of authentic and healthy taste.

A Taste of Tradition on the Shelf of Local Delights

The Shelf of Local Delights brings consumers the unmistakable taste of fresh meat products, dairy, pastries, raw honey, fruit wines, salads, as well as dried fruits and nectars—made with care and passion.

Nearly 20 local producers are currently stocking the shelves in selected Profi stores across Iași County, enhancing the generous offer already available on the Via Profi platform, where anyone can connect with producers directly—without intermediaries.

Where to Find the Local Delights

Every day, the Shelf of Local Delights welcomes customers with affordable prices at the following Profi Super stores:

  • Iași:
  • Strada Clopotari no. 16–20, bl. 607, sc. A–C
  • Bulevardul Independenței 1A
  • Bulevardul Carol 48
  • Șoseaua Păcurari 112
  • Pașcani:
  • Strada Ștefan cel Mare, BI V 1–3
  • Hârlău:
  • Strada Petru Rareș 14

A Commitment from the Heart

“This program is not driven by economic gain for Profi. It’s another way in which we put heart into our communities and into Romania, just as each of the selected small producers does. We ensure that what is good and healthy has a place in modern retail,” said Călin Costinaș, Deputy General Manager of Profi.

Profi helps small producers who cook as if for their own families bring their products to more and more households across Romania. In-store customers can rediscover authentic flavors made from carefully selected ingredients. It’s a strong commitment to preserve what is good for us and ensure a future for the local producers who pour their soul into Romania.

Supporting Authentic, Small-Batch Production

All products are sold in limited quantities and only in selected stores to allow producers to maintain their traditional methods and quality, without compromising for volume.

The focus remains on freshness and artisanal production, specific to each locality or region featured on the Shelf of Local Delights. Profi supports local producers in presenting their best products—crafted in compliance with health regulations, correctly labeled, and packaged in a way that highlights their valuable contents.

A Growing Initiative with National Reach

The Shelf of Local Delights program was first introduced in September 2022 at a festival organized by Profi in Apoș. Since then, it has expanded across more counties and will continue to grow throughout the year.

In 2023, the program involved 120 local artisanal suppliers with over 800 traditional products in 25 Profi stores across 21 localities. In 2024, it expanded further to include the counties of Timiș, Sibiu, and Olt, reaching nearly 1,000 available products.

More Than a Shelf – A Platform for Stories

Beyond physical store presence, small producers also share their stories and product offerings on Via-Profi.ro, the largest and most awarded national platform dedicated to promoting them. Through this platform, anyone can embark on a flavorful journey through the tastes of Romania.
