On the morning of Thursday, March 28th, Mr. Horia Constantinescu submitted his resignation from the position of President of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), stating that he will focus on the electoral campaign aiming for the position of mayor of Constanța. In his announcement, Mr. Constantinescu stated:

"I raise a cup of coffee to each of you, those who have shown me the support that has motivated me throughout the two years as president of the authority. Some of you probably already know that I have been nominated as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party for the position of mayor of the city of Constanța.

By necessity, I must resign from the position of president in order to dedicate myself to the campaign and the new project.

With all due lack of modesty, I have written a page in the authority's history book. I leave behind a functional institution, with significant steps taken towards digitalization, with renovated offices, with a new approach, and notable achievements. However, I remain in this great family, as the Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Constanța County Commissariat (suspended). I confess that I feel like I am going through an amicable divorce.

The thought of remarrying with the Constanța City Hall motivates me enormously. I am preparing the division of tasks; I leave the authority with several hundred extra hours, projects, and a positive visibility. I keep wonderful memories and an impeccable reputation in this position."

As of the publication of this announcement, the government has not yet announced a replacement.
