The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has decided the reinstatement of Iacob Lelior as Director General of the National Agency for Zootechnics “Prof. Dr. G.K. Constantinescu” (ANZ), following the termination of his suspension and the resumption of his activity within the institution.
According to information published in the agricultural press and available public data, the decision was formalized through an administrative order, and the interim management ensured during the previous period ceases upon the return of the incumbent to the position.
Iacob Lelior previously held the position of Director General of ANZ during the period 2015–2019. The National Agency for Zootechnics is responsible for coordinating genetic improvement activities, managing genealogical registers, monitoring productive performance, and implementing livestock policies at the national level.
The institution plays a technical role in its relationship with breeders’ associations, farmers, and relevant European structures, in the context of implementing breeding programs and monitoring activities in the livestock sector.
The return to the leadership of ANZ takes place at a time when the livestock sector is facing pressures related to production costs, adaptation to European requirements, and the need to strengthen breeding and genetic selection programs. The agency’s activity remains relevant for the management of livestock data and for supporting performance in breeding and production farms in Romania.
