In May 2023, the volume of turnover in retail trade (excluding trade with vehicles and motorcycles) increased compared to April 2023, both in the raw series by 7.2% and in the seasonally adjusted series by 3.2%.

Compared to May 2022, in May 2023, the volume of turnover in retail trade (excluding trade with vehicles and motorcycles) increased in both the raw series by 3.2% and in the seasonally adjusted series by 2.7%.

During the period of January 1 to May 31, 2023, the volume of turnover in retail trade (excluding trade with vehicles and motorcycles) increased compared to the same period in 2022, both in the raw series by 3.3% and in the seasonally adjusted series by 3.2%.

In May 2023 compared to April 2023:

  • The overall volume of turnover in retail trade (excluding trade with vehicles and motorcycles) in May 2023 increased by 7.2% due to growth in retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores (+20.7%) and sales of non-food products (+8.8%). However, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco decreased by 1.6%.
  • The seasonally adjusted series of retail trade in May 2023 increased by 3.2% compared to the previous month, driven by increases in retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores (+6.2%), non-food products (+3.5%), and food, beverages, and tobacco (+0.3%).

In May 2023 compared to May 2022:

  • The overall volume of turnover in retail trade (excluding trade with vehicles and motorcycles) in May 2023 increased by 3.2% due to growth in sales of non-food products (+4.1%), retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores (+2.5%), and food, beverages, and tobacco (+2.4%).
  • The seasonally adjusted series of retail trade in May 2023 increased by 2.7% compared to the same month in 2022, driven by increases in sales of non-food products (+3.2%), retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores (+2.7%), and food, beverages, and tobacco (+2.1%).

During the period of January 1 to May 31, 2023, compared to the same period in 2022:

  • The overall volume of turnover in retail trade (excluding trade with vehicles and motorcycles) increased by 3.3%, mainly due to growth in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco (+5.1%) and non-food products (+4.0%).
  • However, retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores decreased by 1.0%.
  • The seasonally adjusted series of retail trade during the same period increased by 3.2%, driven by growth in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco (+4.1%) and non-food products (+3.7%).
  • Retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores decreased by 0.4%.
