INS: Milk Collection and Dairy Production at the End of 2024

In December 2024, the quantity of cow’s milk collected from agricultural holdings and collection centers by processing units increased by 4.8% compared to November 2024 and by 8.8% compared to December 2023.

For the period January 1 – December 31, 2024, the quantity of cow’s milk collected by processing units increased by 4.6% compared to the same period in 2023.

December 2024 vs. November 2024

Compared to the previous month, the quantity of cow’s milk collected by processing units increased by 4.8% in December 2024.

• The highest production increase was recorded for butter (+27.9%),
• The largest production decline was in fermented milk products (yogurt, drinking yogurt, buttermilk, and similar dairy products) (-8.0%).

The quantity of raw milk imported by processing units decreased by 7.6% compared to November 2024.

Compared to the same month of the previous year, in December 2024, the quantity of cow’s milk collected by processing units increased by 8.8%.

• The highest production increase was recorded for cheese (+13.1%),
• The largest decrease was in consumption cream (-7.1%).

The quantity of raw milk imported by processing units increased by 14.8% compared to December 2023.

January 1 – December 31, 2024, vs. January 1 – December 31, 2023

For the period January 1 – December 31, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, the quantity of cow’s milk collected by processing units increased by 4.6%.

• The highest production increase was recorded for butter (+9.0%).
• The quantity of raw milk imported by processing units increased by 38.7% compared to the previous year.
