Kaufland Romania and the Civil Society Development Foundation (FDSC) announce the launch of the second call for projects this year within the "In Good Condition" program, aimed at non-governmental organizations that carry out initiatives to support communities and vulnerable groups in Romania in three priority areas of intervention: culture, sports, and healthy living.
This second call of the year follows the one launched in March and has a total budget of over 350,000 euros, which will be distributed to the winning NGOs in the form of non-repayable grants to finance the proposed projects.
Projects can receive funding ranging from 10,000 to 60,000 euros per project. This year, the maximum value of grants has been increased by the funder, Kaufland Romania, by 10,000 euros compared to the 2022 edition of the program. Thus, the total budget of the program in 2023 has reached 1.2 million euros.
Similar to previous calls, the selection of winning projects will be conducted in two stages: a pre-selection based on the project file submitted by the candidate organizations, followed by an evaluation session in which the shortlisted NGOs will be invited to present their initiatives to a jury composed of members of the CSR Committee of Kaufland Romania and representatives of the FDSC.
Project proposals for the 2/2023 call can be submitted by interested NGOs on the instaredebine.ro platform from June 28, 2023 (9:00 a.m.) to June 30, 2023 (4:00 p.m.). Detailed information about the eligible project types, funding criteria, Applicant's Guide, and all necessary documents are available on the same website.
In the 1/2023 call, launched in March, 12 organizations were accepted for funding, whose projects address a wide range of issues and beneficiary categories, including homeless individuals, minor victims of human trafficking, LGBTQIA+ youth, children with oncological diseases, survivors of domestic violence, children with disabilities (Down syndrome or autism), children and youth from marginalized communities (Castelu, Pata Rât, Ponorâta), individuals from former mining communities facing the effects of deindustrialization, etc. The list of winners can be consulted here.
"This year, we pay special attention to initiatives that integrate intersectionality as an essential component of the project proposal," says Katharina Scheidereiter, CSR Manager for Kaufland Romania and Moldova.
"Some of the organizations that received funding in our first call for projects have been implementing such initiatives for many years. One such example is the Tranzit Foundation, which works with children and youth from the community in Pata Rât, where there is a very complex social context: a generally precarious material situation that is transmitted from one generation to another, ethnic discrimination, limited access to educational, social, and healthcare services, reduced social mobility, etc.
These multiple intersecting factors require tailored interventions that address issues specific to these groups and communities.
Each of these subgroups (poor Roma, Roma with disabilities, minors - especially girls - at risk of trafficking, etc.) requires interventions designed for their specific problems. We are pleased to be among the first private funders in the non-governmental sector in Romania to highlight intersectionality as an instrument and working concept in support of vulnerable groups and communities in our country."
