At "Green Week 2024"-Berlin, Romanian processors exhibited the highest quality food products

Between January 19 and January 28, 2024, the 88th edition of the "Green Week 2024" exhibition (Grüne Woche) took place in Berlin.

Annually, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) participates in this exhibition with an informational stand regarding the policies applied in the field of agriculture and rural development. Experts from MADR promote nationally and European-recognized Romanian agri-food products within this stand.

In this year as well, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development aimed to promote and offer samples of products registered under European quality schemes or in the process of registration. These include:

  • Topoloveni Plum Jam - IGP
  • Sibiu Salami - IGP
  • Ibăneşti Telemea Cheese - DOP
  • Smoked Danube Herring - IGP
  • Pleşcoi Sausages - IGP
  • Sibiu Telemea Cheese - IGP
  • Săveni Cheese - IGP
  • Tulcea Pike Roe Salad - IGP
  • Traditional Carp Roe Salad - STG
  • Dobrogea Pie - IGP
  • Pecica Bread - IGP

From the spirits category with Geographical Indication, there were Palinka and Zetea Plum Brandy from Medieșul Aurit. Additionally, there were products registered under national quality schemes.

Among the Romanian products exhibited at the 2024 edition of the "Green Week," there were those in the process of registration under a European quality system, such as:

  • Babic de Buzău for IGP
  • Deltaic Sturgeon Roe for IGP
  • Marinated Sardine for STG

As well as products that will undergo the stages of registration under a European quality system:

  • Vâlcea Axe-Cut Sausages
  • Vâlcea Garnish Smoked Meat
  • Bran Fir-Coated Cheese
  • Pecica-Turnu Extended Pie
  • Nădlac Salami
  • Teaca Kneaded Cheese
  • Various fish products (ghiuță, silver carp roe, catfish batog, silver carp and catfish jerky)
  • Various preserves with fish and different types of fruit syrups, jams, or preserves
  • Bakery and pastry products (cozonaci, gem-filled pastries, eugenie, expanded cereals, flour, etc.)
  • Chicken meat products
  • Various types of honey
  • Other bee products
  • Cold-pressed oil varieties

In the spirits category, Romania offered tastings of palinka and țuică, as well as white and red wine. Visitors could also taste smoked apples and plums from Vrancea.

It's worth noting that the "Green Week 2024" exhibition serves as both a business platform and a festival of gastronomic and folk traditions with significant media impact in Europe and globally. In 2023, over 300,000 visitors attended the exhibition, with 1,400 exhibitors from 61 countries on a display area of 118,000 square meters.
