On the occasion of presenting the 100-day governance report, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced the Government’s intention to initiate a reorganization process of the county-level services of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the current institutional structure is overly complex and costly, and that the solution is to merge these services into a much smaller and more efficient structure.

"The county services of the Ministry of Agriculture should merge into a much smaller structure. In this way we will be able to reduce administrative expenses, decrease the number of management positions, and provide citizens with more accessible services without additional travel," stated Ilie Bolojan.

The Prime Minister specified that this measure is part of a broader national institutional optimization process, aimed at ensuring:

  • efficient use of budgetary resources;
  • reduction of the administrative apparatus;
  • improved quality of services offered to farmers and agricultural producers.

At the same time, the head of the Government drew attention to the high levels of imports in the agri-food sector and stressed the need for support policies to stimulate domestic production, processing, and the competitiveness of Romanian products on both the domestic and international markets.

"The Government has the duty to create the conditions for people and companies to perform. It is time to provide stronger support to local companies and reduce dependence on imports," concluded the Prime Minister.
