Agentia nationala germana de statistica, Destatis, a raportat in 2009 o productie de mai mult de 7,7 milioane de tone de carne in 2009, in crestere cu 2,5% fata de 2008. Din aceasta cantitate, carnea de porc reprezinta 67,9%, cea de pui 16,6% iar cea de vita 15,2%.

Cifrele, de altfel tot mai mari, in ceea ce priveste abatorizarea carnii de porc au stabilit un nou record anul trecut. Cu aproximativ 56 de milioane de porci abatorizati, Germania a procesat cu 2, 7% mai mult decat in 2008, adica cu 1,5 milioane de capete in plus.
