The representatives of the County and Bucharest Municipality Veterinary and Food Safety Directorates conducted thematic inspections in retail units subject to registration and veterinary and food safety control, especially in units located in recreational areas/tourist interest localities (public catering units, tourist guesthouses, butcher shops, hypermarkets/supermarkets).

The actions of the inspections aimed primarily at identifying and withdrawing from sale to the final consumer food products that pose a risk to public health.

As a result, 4,028 inspections were carried out, and 414 contravention fines were applied for the identified deficiencies, totaling 3,754,000 lei.

Additionally, 12 Activity Suspension Orders and 13 Activity Prohibition Orders were issued.

A total quantity of 987 kg of food products was confiscated and directed to neutralization facilities.

Following the inspections, a series of non-conformities were identified, including:

  • Improper storage.
  • Non-performance of DDD operations in accordance with food industry-specific legislation.
  • Hygiene and maintenance issues related to the premises.
  • Deficiencies in the labeling, handling, and storage of food products.
  • Non-certification of the health status of staff.

ANSVSA inspectors will penalize all economic operators who do not comply with hygiene standards and requirements to prevent the occurrence of food safety risks, including preventing the spread of African swine fever virus. Communication and Documentary Logistics Service
