Salam de Sibiu AGRICOLA IGP – the best-selling assortment in this segment on the domestic market and a benchmark in terms of its reputation and quality in the Romanian meat processing industry, winner of numerous international awards for taste and quality - has reached, in the last days of March, the shelves of stores in the USA.

This is an absolute premiere, as Salam de Sibiu AGRICOLA IGP thus becomes the first Romanian animal-origin food exported to the American market, after a hiatus of several decades in bilateral trade exchanges in this segment.

The road to exporting this exceptional Romanian product abroad has not been easy, but at this point, it can rightly be called a GREAT ACHIEVEMENT, as it expands its international journey.

"This achievement once again proves that SUCCESS is always possible only if the people who initiate and implement it are professionals, visionaries, daring, or, as they sometimes say in the Moldova region, stubborn enough to turn what was once a dream into reality," appreciates Cristian Călin, Communication Manager of the Agricola Group.

This is a first-time achievement for now, but the FIRST one can only be one! Agricola is a "pioneer" in the poultry meat market and Romanian meat products - over the past 20 years, it has innovated and generated many trends that other producers have embraced.

In this case, Salam de Sibiu AGRICOLA, recognized at the European level, has become an authentic AMBASSADOR for the US market. In this sense, Salam de Sibiu AGRICOLA IGP is the first to write modern history, and this is the merit of the entire team at SALBAC, a company of the Agricola Group, which over the years has been a benchmark for all."

In the last days of March, the first shipment of Salam de Agricola IGP passed through the US customs warehouse and is already on store shelves.

"Our team's experience in producing this exceptional assortment has significantly contributed to the entire process of accrediting dried-cured sausages in the USA, which was a lengthy process given the complex legislative procedures.

Since 2014, AGRICOLA has submitted an application for accreditation in the USA, and only in September 2021 did we receive an official visit from the Department of Agriculture (USDA) - the food inspection and safety service, where we passed the specific final stage for processors.

We fully complied with all the conditions imposed to obtain the US export certification, obviously with the corresponding efforts and costs, but this project to accredit dried-cured products would not have been successfully completed if we had not been monitored, supported, and helped to harmonize the legislation, step by step, by the management and specialized teams of the National and County Sanitary Veterinary Authority, to whom we are grateful!" declares Angelica Șmil, General Manager of SALBAC SA.

Exporting Salam de Sibiu AGRICOLA to the US market represents an important business card for the company and the AGRICOLA brand, "a company open to innovation, which understands that the world is changing, and that we must change with it, learn, inspire, stimulate creativity, and constantly adapt.

We believe that, now that we've made it here, we fully deserve to be on the tables of consumers across the ocean. It's a dream come true after investing resources, effort, and a lot of consistency over several years.

Congratulations to the SALBAC team for all of this, and I am confident that within a reasonable time frame, during which we will make similar investments, we will move from increasing notoriety to commensurate results," states Grigore Horoi, President of the AGRICOLA Group of companies.
