Romalimenta Employers’ Federation Has a New Leadership. Aurel Popescu, president of ROMPAN, has taken over the mandate of president of the organization following the withdrawal of Sorin Minea, who remains honorary member. The decision marks an important stage for the representation of the food industry at a time when the sector is facing pressures related to costs, competition, and regulations.

Aurel Popescu has been leading ROMPAN for many years and has had a constant presence in the public dialogue regarding market developments. Trained at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), with a career that began in national structures of the milling and baking industry, Popescu is one of the well-known voices in the dialogue with authorities, especially on topics such as energy costs, raw material price volatility, and supply chain stability.

The leadership structure is completed by two vice-presidential mandates:

• Dana Tănase, executive director of the Romanian Meat Association (ARC) since 2016, a veterinarian and former director within ANSVSA. Since 2019, she has also represented Romania at the European level within CLITRAVI. • Rodica Țenu, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Director at Nestlé Romania, with training in veterinary medicine and nutrition, active in working groups and technical consultations with state institutions.

Sorin Minea, who has led Romalimenta in recent years, continues his activity in the organization as honorary member, thus maintaining the link between generations of leaders and the accumulated experience in dialogue with authorities.

The new president has committed to strengthening relations with institutions responsible for economic, fiscal, and veterinary-sanitary policies. Romalimenta announces its intention to intensify consultations regarding legislative predictability, food safety, correct product labeling, and the competitiveness of the Romanian food industry in the European context. The federation remains involved in joint projects with authorities and in European programs oriented toward consumer information, such as Safe2EatEU.

Romalimenta brings together relevant associations and employers’ organizations from the food and beverage industry, along with Romanian and international processing companies, and continues to act as the main platform for representation and dialogue for the sector.
