Schwarz Group Reports €175.4 Billion in Sales for Fiscal Year 2024
The Schwarz Group, which operates the Lidl and Kaufland retail chains, generated sales of €175.4 billion in the 2024 fiscal year—an increase of 4.9% compared to the previous year, according to European Supermarket Magazine.
Despite a globally tense economic environment, the group created 20,000 new jobs across its entire value chain, including around 4,000 in Germany.
Lidl and Kaufland expanded their combined store network by approximately 300 new locations during the fiscal year, reaching a total of around 14,200 stores.
Discount retailer Lidl reported a 5.3% increase in in-store sales, reaching €132.1 billion compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, Kaufland generated sales of €35.2 billion, marking a 2.9% annual increase.
Online sales amounted to €1.7 billion, in line with market trends and consistent with the previous year, the company reported.
In addition, the company’s environmental division, PreZero, reported a 5.4% increase in sales, reaching €3.9 billion. This growth was partly driven by increased volumes in the recyclable materials trade.
Gerd Chrzanowski, General Partner of the Schwarz Group, stated:
“The successful 2024 financial year for Schwarz Group companies is primarily based on the tireless dedication and outstanding commitment of our employees. Together, we are shaping the future of our group and developing innovative solutions for the challenges of tomorrow.
“This has enabled us to achieve sustainable growth across all sectors—even during a period of global uncertainty—and to continue investing in Germany as a business location and in a digitally sovereign Europe.”
