The Competition Council is analyzing the transaction whereby Delhaize "The Lion" Nederland B.V., part of the Ahold Delhaize group, intends to acquire Profi Rom Food S.R.L.

Delhaize "The Lion" Nederland B.V. is a company within the Ahold Delhaize group, present on the Romanian market through Mega Image S.R.L., which primarily engages in retail trade in non-specialized stores, with predominantly food, beverage, and tobacco sales.

Profi Rom Food S.R.L. operates in the retail trade sector in non-specialized stores, with predominantly food, beverage, and tobacco sales.

Profi Rom Food S.R.L. is owned by MEP Retail Luxco S.à.r.l., part of the Mid Europa investment group. In the analysis, the competition authority will evaluate the operation's impact on the end consumer and suppliers in the retail market for everyday consumer goods. In this context, the authority invites suppliers, including local ones, to submit observations regarding the notified acquisition.

According to the provisions of the Competition Law (Law no. 21/1996), this transaction must be authorized by the Competition Council, which will assess its compatibility with a normal competitive environment and issue a decision within the legal deadlines.
