The average time Romanians spend on a mall visit is just over 2 hours (130 minutes), with Generation Z (14-25 years old) standing out in this case, spending over 150 minutes in a single shopping session. At the opposite end are Generation X (43-58 years old), with only 116 minutes.

Most often, Romanians go to shopping malls for shopping (55%), followed by socializing over coffee (29%), having a meal in the food court area (29%), visiting a hypermarket (18%), going to the cinema (4%), and paying utilities & sports (2%).

Those who go shopping mostly buy women's clothing (18%) or men's clothing (12%), as well as cosmetics or perfumes (10%).

Women are the ones who come to the mall for shopping (61%), while men, although they spend more per session, plan their visits for utilitarian purposes and only 48% for shopping.

The average amount spent is 300 lei

The average amount spent by Romanians on a mall visit is nearly 300 lei. The biggest spenders are in the 36-45 age group (Millennials), with almost 370 lei, closely followed by Generation X, who spend around 330 lei on a mall visit. The least spent in a shopping session is by Generation Z - only 200 lei.

It is also interesting to note the trend of consumers who, although they mainly make purchases from online stores, still visit showroom-type shops in malls to test products before actually buying them. Among them, Generation Z stands out (46%).

The sample included 826 respondents aged 14-60, with predominantly medium and higher education and various incomes, located in Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, and Iasi.
