Danone Romania Launches “Digestive Therapy” Educational Campaign

Danone Romania has launched the Digestive Therapy campaign, an educational initiative dedicated to promoting digestive health. Backed by scientific expertise through a partnership with nutritionist Dr. Anca Hâncu, the campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of digestive well-being and to provide practical solutions for maintaining a healthy body.

The Digestive Therapy campaign offers actionable recommendations for consumers, following findings from a 2024 study which revealed that 47% of Romanians want to improve their digestive health but don't know how.

Moreover, the data showed that 75% of respondents experience some form of intestinal disorder, while 52% face digestive problems at least once a month.

“The Digestive Therapy campaign is yet another testament to Danone’s commitment to promoting digestive well-being. Its aim is to inform and educate the public on the importance of digestive health and to encourage the adoption of healthy daily habits, focused on four essential factors: diet, physical activity, stress, and sleep,” said Delia Corniciuc, Marketing Director for Danone Central and Eastern Europe.

Consumers can access a free online tool at https://danone.ro/staredigestiva/ to assess their current dietary habits and receive personalized advice for improving their daily routines.

The campaign also features expert tips from Dr. Anca Hâncu, a nutritionist and President of the Romanian Association for Preventive Medicine through Healthy Lifestyle, as well as Secretary General on the board of the European Lifestyle Medicine Organization.

“Over 90% of serotonin—commonly known as the ‘happiness hormone’—is produced in the gut, not the brain, as many believe. This highlights the close connection between digestive health and our emotional well-being,” Dr. Hâncu explained.

“When digestion works properly, we feel more balanced, have more energy, and are better equipped to handle stress. Health starts from within, and caring for the digestive system—often called the ‘second brain’—should be a priority for everyone.”

Under the slogan “Listen to your second brain! There’s a reason you feel butterflies in your stomach,” the campaign spotlights the concept that the gut has its own "brain." The human digestive system contains a complex network of neurons that communicate directly with the brain.
