The teams of inspectors from the Summer Season Command 2023 are operating nationwide in recreational areas and tourist destinations within the country, other than those on the Black Sea coast.

For this purpose, teams of inspectors have been formed at the level of each County Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (DSVSA), conducting official inspections in retail units subject to veterinary and food safety registration and control.

To streamline these controls, the county DSVSA's receive support from local authorities, who inform them about the periods and locations of certain events (summer fairs, pilgrimages on religious holidays, local festivals, etc.) to ensure that these events take place without food-related incidents.

The inspections by veterinary and food safety inspectors target the hygiene conditions in which public food establishments, pizzerias, canteens, catering facilities, confectioneries, bakeries, confectionery and bakery laboratories, tourist guesthouses, hypermarkets, supermarkets, and grocery stores operate, as well as compliance with the requirements for veterinary and food safety registration for retail units.

During the period from July 2nd to July 14th, inspections were conducted at 685 units.

For violations of veterinary and food safety legislation, 33 administrative fines were imposed, amounting to 1,229,400 lei.

Additionally, 2 activity suspension orders and 5 activity prohibition orders were issued.

Furthermore, veterinary inspectors ordered the official retention and dispatch to neutralization facilities of 93 kg of animal-origin food products that posed a risk to consumer health.

Among the non-compliances identified and sanctioned during the inspections are:

  • Improper storage;
  • Failure to perform DDD operations (disinfection, disinfestation, and deratization);
  • Failure to supervise the health status of employees;
  • Inadequate hygiene and maintenance of premises;
  • Deficiencies in labeling, handling, and storage of food products.

Consumers can report food safety irregularities by calling the toll-free number of the ANSVSA Call Center from any telephone network: 0800 826 787. Communication and Documentary Logistics Service.
