The Association of Major Retail Chains in Romania (AMRCR) supports and joins the public awareness campaign "Drive Clean!" based on the text of Law 213/2023 - informally called the Anastasia Law - published in the Official Gazette on July 7, 2023.

The campaign aims to draw attention to those who choose to drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or without a driver's license and have caused traffic accidents resulting in the death of the victim that, starting from July 2023, the penalty prescribed for such situations is imprisonment.

AMRCR's involvement will consist of distributing informative messages - posters/spots broadcasted in the audio-video systems of stores/small shopping accessories, which will be found in different periods in stores located in geographic areas corresponding to heavily trafficked zones at certain times of the year.

The first locations targeted for the distribution of these messages, agreed upon with the initiators and other collaborators supporting the campaign, will be in the Capital and on the Coast, between Palm Sunday and the end of the Easter Holidays.

According to the latest data communicated by Eurostat, Romania remains in the first place in the European Union regarding deaths resulting from road accidents, with 86 fatalities per one million inhabitants in 2022, almost double the bloc's average.

The Association of Major Retail Chains in Romania stands alongside the Government of Romania represented by the Prime Minister's Chancellery and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in promoting this campaign, which aims to discourage dangerous behaviors among drivers that can cause tragedies with a major impact on families and significant emotional effects on society.

"We have become involved in supporting this initiative because we consider it useful, with a positive impact on the entire society, and consequently, we hope that many other entities will join the campaign," stated George Bădescu, Executive Director of AMRCR.

AMRCR (Association of Major Retail Chains in Romania) groups the following food and non-food retail companies in Romania: Altex, Artima, Auchan, Brico Depot, Carrefour, Columbus, DM Drogerie Markt, Decathlon, Dedeman, Flanco, Hornbach, IKEA, Kaufland, Lidl, Leroy Merlin, Mega Image, Metro Cash & Carry, Mobexpert, Penny, Pepco, Profi, Selgros and is a member of the Employers' Confederation "Concordia" and the organization "EuroCommerce".
