The Constanța County Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate (DSVSA) hosted the opening conference of the 2025 Summer Season Command, marking the launch of the official monitoring and control campaign along Romania’s coastline during the summer season.

The event brought together representatives of central and local authorities, public administration, regulatory and control bodies, as well as business and civic organizations, in a joint effort to strengthen food safety, protect public health, and prevent food-related incidents in areas of high tourist interest.

Their participation reflected a shared commitment to ensuring a safe and secure summer season, with a strong emphasis on preventive measures and collaboration between institutions and economic operators.

The conference took place in the presence of:

A Strong Message on Food Safety and Institutional Cooperation

During the official opening, Dr. Alexandru Bociu, President of ANSVSA, emphasized the importance of prioritizing food safety and enhancing collaboration between authorities and businesses, particularly in the context of the summer tourism season, which is marked by significantly higher food consumption.

“It is essential for authorities to stay connected to on-the-ground realities and to support operators who comply with regulations. The Summer Season Command is not just a control initiative—it is also a platform for prevention, guidance, and partnership,” said Dr. Bociu.

Operational Planning and Industry Dialogue

The event served as a platform for practical dialogue between regulators and business representatives, focusing on:

  • The structure and coordination of official control teams
  • Field operations procedures
  • The training and consultation session calendar

Special emphasis was placed on risk prevention in food service establishments, ensuring that both public health standards and business needs are addressed proactively.

The conference highlighted the importance of maintaining open and consistent communication with food business operators, which will continue through:

  • Training hubs coordinated by DSVSA Constanța
  • On-site official inspections scheduled throughout the summer

Institutional Collaboration and Strategic Participation

The organizational discussions included representatives from:

  • Constanța Public Health Directorate (DSP)
  • County School Inspectorate
  • Chamber of Commerce
  • Destination Management Organizations (OMD Mamaia, Constanța, and Mangalia)
  • Ministry of Internal Affairs structures (Police, Gendarmerie)
