The Institute of Animal Health and Diagnosis has confirmed the presence of the H5N1 avian influenza virus in two samples taken from two dead birds in a household located in the immediate vicinity of the primary outbreak site in Țigănești, Teleorman County.
Since this household is located at a distance of 130 meters from the site where the primary outbreak was diagnosed, it is considered a secondary outbreak of avian influenza.
According to procedures, the 42 birds (23 ducks and 19 chickens) in the household were culled, and their carcasses were disposed of through burial along with contaminated feed residues and bedding.
After the removal of carcasses and waste, the initial disinfection of the affected households was completed. Measures to combat and extinguish avian influenza outbreaks, as adopted by the Local Disease Control Center (CLCB) in Teleorman, will be maintained.
The measures specified in the CLCB decision will be in place for at least thirty days from the date of completion of the preliminary cleaning and disinfection operations at the infected farms, in accordance with applicable legislation. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) requests the support of poultry farmers and citizens in implementing biosecurity measures, immediate reporting of bird mortalities to veterinary services, and compliance with all measures imposed by authorities to prevent the spread of this disease within our country.
