The Auchan Discount stores on Calea Șagului in Timișoara and in Ploiești have been rebranded as ATAC Hiper Discount by Auchan, expanding the network’s lowest-price format to three units, following the opening of the first ATAC hypermarket in Brașov in April.
Under the slogan "Lower the Prices!", ATAC stores offer generally low prices and a cascading discount system for larger quantities, thanks to optimized product ranges and reduced operating costs.
In the two new ATAC Hiper Discount stores, customers have access to over 15,000 products, including fresh items (bakery, vegetables, and fruits), groceries, detergents and cleaning products, cosmetics and personal care items, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and seasonal and essential non-food products, all at very advantageous prices.
Each of the two new stores spans over 7,000 square meters, providing customers with a comfortable and easy shopping experience. The new hyper discount format maintains wide aisles, offers a quick shopping route, clearly marked categories, and a large number of checkouts (both cashier-operated and self-checkout options). Each new ATAC store employs over 100 staff members and operates daily from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
The hyper discount concept aligns with the purchasing power of Romanians, offering a diverse assortment of 60% food products and 40% non-food products, including Romanian brands, well-known international brands, and private-label products with excellent quality-price ratios.
Prices are lowered due to previous investments aimed at reducing electricity consumption, minimizing space for refrigeration displays, optimizing logistics processes, and cutting transport costs and investments in decor and advertising.
Additionally, at ATAC, the retailer stocks and handles products on pallets and boxes, using adapted furniture, presenting essential product ranges, reducing consumables, packaging, and storage spaces, and negotiating bulk purchases for better prices.
"With ATAC, we are taking another significant step in our mission to protect the purchasing power of our customers - both individuals and businesses. We offer even more advantageous prices, including cascading price policies, where the price of a product decreases as the purchased quantity increases.
The core of our commercial strategy is to truly support purchasing power by providing a more efficient discount solution, where all savings are reinvested in efforts to maintain the promised price level.
Increased volumes sold allow us to achieve better turnover rates and lower prices to best meet consumer needs," stated Ioana Toșa, Sales Director at Auchan Retail Romania.
Moreover, ATAC store customers continue to have the opportunity to actively contribute to environmental protection through services such as the collection of used cooking oil, the Deposit Return System for collecting PET, aluminum, and glass packaging, and the Zero Waste section where products nearing their expiration date are offered at significantly reduced prices.
