INS: Romania's trade deficit with food products reached new records

In August 2023, FOB exports amounted to 7,079.0 million euros, while CIF imports amounted to 9,711.6 million euros, resulting in a deficit of 2,632.6 million euros.

Compared to August 2022, exports in August 2023 decreased by 7.1%, and imports decreased by 10.5%.

In the period from January 1 to August 31, 2023, FOB exports totaled 62,168.6 million euros, while CIF imports totaled 80,396.1 million euros.

During the period from January 1 to August 31, 2023, exports increased by 3.1%, and imports decreased by 2.3% compared to the period from January 1 to August 31, 2022.

The trade balance deficit (FOB/CIF) in the period from January 1 to August 31, 2023, was 18,227.5 million euros, which is 3,782.4 million euros (-17.2%) lower than that recorded in the same period in 2022.

From the beginning of the year until the end of August, Romania imported food and live animals worth over 7 billion euros and exported goods in the same product groups worth only 4.9 billion euros.
