Following the centralization of the data, the INS informs that the pig herds existing on May 1, 2023, compared to May 1, 2022, decreased by 9.8%, and the sow herd by 2.0%.

The distribution by development regions reveals that the share of pig herds existing on May 1, 2023, compared to the same date in 2022, increased in the West (+1.9 p.p.), Center (+0.4 p.p.), South regions - East (+0.2 p.p.).

The numbers decreased in the South Muntenia (-1.9 p.p.), North-East (-0.4 p.p.), North-West (-0.1 p.p.) and Bucharest-Ilfov (-0.1 p.p.) regions, and in the Southwest Oltenia region remained constant.
