Retail Trade Turnover Volume Increased by 7.8% in December 2024 Compared to December 2023

December 2024 vs. December 2023

The retail trade turnover volume (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased by 7.8% in December 2024 compared to December 2023, in both gross series and seasonally adjusted series.

The growth was driven by:

  • Non-food product sales: +15.9%
  • Retail trade of automotive fuels in specialized stores: +5.2%

Meanwhile, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco slightly declined by 0.3%.

In seasonally adjusted terms, the overall 7.8% growth was supported by:

  • Non-food product sales: +15.7%
  • Retail trade of automotive fuels: +3.1%
  • Food, beverages, and tobacco sales: +1.0%

December 2024 vs. November 2024

Compared to November 2024, the retail trade turnover volume:

  • Increased by 2.4% in gross series, mainly due to a 13.7% rise in food, beverages, and tobacco sales.
  • Decreased by 1.3% in seasonally adjusted series, influenced by declines in:
  • Food, beverages, and tobacco sales: -2.0%
  • Non-food product sales: -0.9%
  • However, retail trade of automotive fuels rose by 1.7%.

Annual Overview: 2024 vs. 2023

For the entire year 2024, the retail trade turnover volume grew by 8.6% compared to 2023, driven by:

  • Non-food product sales: +14.8%
  • Food, beverages, and tobacco sales: +3.8%
  • Retail trade of automotive fuels: +3.6%
