Glovo, the multi-category platform providing access to a wide variety of products, and Kaufland Romania, one of the largest retailers on the local market, are celebrating five years of partnership.
The two companies have also collaborated on developing the Social Canteen project, initiated by Kaufland Romania and the Association "Șansa Ta" in 2021. This social program aims to combat food waste and is dedicated to low-income families and homeless individuals, for whom Glovo delivers approximately 700 community meals monthly.
The partnership between Glovo and Kaufland Romania began in August 2019 and has gradually expanded. Currently, customers have access to a wide range of 12,000 products across multiple categories, such as vegetables and fruits; meat, deli products, and frozen items; dairy, cheese, and eggs; coffee, bread, and breakfast items; basic foods, sweets, and snacks; beverages; non-food products, and cleaning or pet food products. The delivery service is now available for 130 Kaufland locations in 58 cities, out of the over 70 cities where Glovo operates.
Additionally, through the Social Canteen project, launched in 2021, Kaufland has delivered over 19,000 orders to NGOs and beneficiaries in Bucharest with Glovo's support. Kaufland Romania provides the products needed to prepare community meals, while Glovo ensures they are delivered quickly. In the last three months alone, approximately 700 orders have been delivered monthly as part of this program.
Regarding the types of orders placed through Glovo over the past five years, the most accessed categories from Kaufland stores on the platform include water, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. Bananas were the most ordered fruit, while onions were the most frequently present vegetable in users' baskets.
Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Timișoara are the top cities with the most orders. These cities are followed by Iași and Constanța, with Saturday being the day when the most orders are recorded.
According to data from the platform, the most expensive order placed on Glovo from a Kaufland store was by a Bucharest resident who ordered products worth over 7,000 lei. At the same time, the title of the biggest fan goes to a user from Slatina, who, in the five years since the store was listed on the app, has placed, on average, over three orders every week, totaling 877 orders.
Kaufland also offers a social service for phone orders with home delivery payment through Glovo, initially developed during the pandemic. This service is aimed at elderly or disabled individuals, allowing them to purchase desired products without using the app.
In this way, Kaufland supports those who do not use digital payment tools. The service is currently available in 58 cities nationwide, with an assortment that includes over 12,000 products and plans for expansion. So far, over 120,000 orders have been registered through this program, with the highest usage in cities such as Bucharest, Constanța, and Ploiești.
