In Bucharest, Kaufland Romania announced its financial results for the year 2023 in front of a large audience.

The event was attended by Marco Hößl, CEO of Kaufland Romania and Moldova, Valer Hancaș, Director of Communication and Corporate Affairs at Kaufland Romania, and Richard Perrin, Partner Advisory at KPMG in Romania.

Opening the series of speeches, Mr. Marco Hößl presented the company's main economic highlights, emphasizing that in 2023, Kaufland Romania's business accounted for approximately 1% of the national GDP. He highlighted that Kaufland is one of the largest employers in the country, with 17,200 employees and generating over 60,000 additional jobs.

Mr. Hößl also underscored that out of every euro earned, the company pays 65 euro cents to domestic suppliers and only 17 euro cents to international suppliers, demonstrating the overwhelming presence of Romanian products on Kaufland Romania's hypermarket shelves.

In his address, Mr. Valer Hancaș referred to the company's involvement in social, environmental, volunteer, and educational actions. Mr. Richard Perrin described the methodology used to calculate the data synthesis presented.

Responding to questions from Meat.Milk editors, Mr. Valer Hancaș stated that since the company's minimum wage is higher than the government-mandated minimum, recent wage increases will not affect the business volume. He expressed hope that in the future, Kaufland Romania will continue to set wages above the government minimum.

Regarding some opinions on private label goods, Mr. Hancaș mentioned that he does not comment on information that is more political than commercial in nature. He proudly affirmed that Kaufland is the network with the lowest prices in Romania.
