According to an announcement by Mr. George Scarlat, President of the Committee for Agriculture, Food Industry, and Rural Development, the "Meat and Meat Products Law" has been voted on with a broad majority by the senators.
After a series of debates within the Senate Committee on Agriculture in Romania, several proposals and amendments were made to primarily support Romanian consumers, as well as fair producers and processors in Romania.
As a result, the term "ROMANIAN Product" on meat and the colors of the flag can only be used on the shelves by processors and retailers if the products and meat originate 100% from animals raised in Romanian farms!
Furthermore, this law also specifies that the sale of synthetic meat is prohibited in Romania until European-level legislation is introduced to clarify the production and consumption of synthetic meat.
The current form of the law has been forwarded to the Chamber of Deputies for possible amendments and voting. Subsequently, it will be sent to the President of Romania for promulgation.
