“Raftul cu Bunătăți Locale” by Profi Reaches Bihor County: A Boost for Local Artisanal Producers

The largest support program for small local producers in Romania now includes Bihor County. Profi has officially launched the “Raftul cu Bunătăți Locale” (Shelf of Local Delicacies) in selected stores in Oradea and Biharia, with more locations to follow in the coming weeks.

Through this initiative, local producers are encouraged to bring their traditionally crafted goods into the modern retail space, making it easier for them to reach consumers directly.

Thanks to this program, launched by the Romanian retail chain Profi, small-scale producers can continue to pass on the legacy of authentic, wholesome taste.

The Raftul cu Bunătăți Locale offers the unmistakable flavor of fresh, artisanal products such as meat and dairy goods, pastries, baked goods, pasta, wines, craft beer, natural fruit juices, and preserved vegetables and fruits.

To start with, nearly 20 local producers are now supplying products to the Shelf of Local Delicacies in selected Profi stores in Bihor County. This complements the extensive offering already listed on the Via Profi platform, where anyone can connect directly with local producers—without intermediaries.

Customers in Oradea can now enjoy these traditional delicacies at the following Profi Super locations:

  • Bd. Dacia, corner with Progresul
  • Str. Alexandru Cazaban no. 51C
  • Aleea Trandafirilor no. 2, bl. 1C

In Biharia, products are available at:

  • Profi Super, Str. Cetății no. 154, Building C1

Starting June 19, the Shelf of Local Delicacies will also be available in Sântandrei, at the Profi store on Str. Căprioarei no. 3.

“Profi helps small local producers bring their delicacies into as many homes across Romania as possible, giving our customers the chance to rediscover authentic tastes made with carefully selected ingredients. This is a firm commitment to preserving everything that is good for us, while ensuring a future for the passionate local producers who are the soul of Romania,” says Călin Costinaș, Deputy CEO of Profi.

“This program does not serve an economic purpose for Profi, but it plays a vital role in preserving Romania’s authentic flavors and encouraging small producers to keep doing what they do best.”

All products are available in limited quantities and only in selected stores, allowing producers to maintain traditional methods and quality, rather than focusing on volume. The emphasis is on freshness and handcrafted production, specific to each locality or region where the Shelf of Local Delicacies is present.

Profi supports small producers in presenting their best products in full compliance with sanitary regulations, with proper labeling and packaging that highlights their high-quality contents.

Launched in September 2022 during a festival organized in Apoș, the Shelf of Local Delicacies program has since expanded to include more counties and continues to grow in 2024.

In 2023, the program featured 120 local artisanal suppliers offering over 800 traditional products across 25 Profi stores in 21 localities. In 2024, it extended to include Timiș, Sibiu, Olt, and most recently, Iași County. Currently, over 1,000 products from small Romanian producers are available through the program in selected stores across the country.

Beyond store presence, local producers share their stories and showcase their products on Via-Profi.ro, Romania’s largest and award-winning national platform for promoting local producers—a flavorful journey into the country's culinary heritage.
