The local delicacies from producers in Suceava county find a valuable place on the "Local Delicacies Shelf" as this concept expands to six stores in the county, belonging to Profi, the Romanian retail network.

This time, the concept was inaugurated at the Profi Super store in Sf. Ilie, Morii Street, no. 194. It aims to support producers in continuing to make the best products according to traditional recipes and to reach consumers more easily. This concept is part of the broader Romanian program launched by Profi to support local small-scale producers.

Every day, delicious and healthy products from over twenty local producers are displayed on the shelf, depending on seasonal availability.

The shelf features cheeses, meat specialties prepared as if for their own families, bakery and pastry products, natural juices made according to traditional recipes, jams, spreads, and fruit preserves made from locally grown fruits, pure honey, dairy products, cold-pressed oils, artisanal wines and beers, as well as teas. All these products fill the Local Delicacies Shelf.

"We put our heart into Romania and support the initiatives of these hardworking and skilled people who prepare delicacies in their homes or cooperatives. The Local Delicacies Shelf is how Profi helps these producers, who cook as if for their own families, to reach as many families in Romania as possible.

It is not only assistance for small local producers but also for consumers who can find quality products, healthy options, and authentic tastes," said Călin Costinaș, Deputy General Manager of Profi, at the launch event of the Local Delicacies Shelf.

Every day, the Local Delicacies Shelf welcomes customers at Profi Super in Sf. Ilie, Suceava county, at Morii Street, no. 194, as well as at Profi stores in five other locations in the county: Suceava (Nicolae Balcescu Street, no. 4), Bosanci (Sucevei Street, no. 8-10), Marginea (Main Street), Rădăuți (Unirii Square, no. 5), and Câmpulung Moldovenesc (Dimitrie Cantemir Street, no. 2).

The local community now saves both time and money by buying from local producers, contributing to their support and preserving the specific gastronomic craftsmanship of the region. This is why the products are sold in limited quantities and only in selected stores. The emphasis is placed on freshness and the artisanal production specific to each locality or area featured on the Local Delicacies Shelf.

"For Profi, supporting local producers means taking concrete actions to assist them. Participants in this program receive help in preparing the necessary documentation and obtaining the required permits for the compliant sale of their products. Profi facilitates their distribution through their own fleet and offers support in their promotion.

Profi provides small local producers with preferential commercial conditions, purchasing goods directly from the production units, paying promptly, and not returning products," said Gaetan Pacton, CEO of Profi.

The first demonstration of this concept was seen in September 2022 at the Festival organized by Profi in Apoș, followed by its introduction in Cluj and Dâmbovița later that same year. This year, the program continued to expand, with Suceava being the third county where it has been implemented, after Bistrița and Alba.

In 2023, Profi plans to bring the Local Delicacies Shelf, featuring specialties in meat, canned goods, dairy products, eggs, bakery, fish, bee products, vegetables, and fruits, to 10 regions of the country and gather at least 150 local producers.

Starting this month, besides being present on the Local Delicacies Shelf, small local producers share their stories and present their offerings on the most comprehensive platform dedicated to them, Via-Profi.ro, through which anyone can embark on a flavorful journey in Romania.

With 28,000 employees in 1,654 owned stores and partner stores present in approximately 800 urban and rural localities, Profi is the largest private employer in Romania. PROFI SUPER, PROFI CITY, PROFI GO, and PROFI LOCO, the four store formats of the network, offer a range of 5,000 products appreciated by over 1.2 million customers who do their daily shopping in these stores.
