Romanian Poultry Exporters Gain Access to the Cuban Market

Romanian poultry exporters now have a new opportunity on the international market following the issuance of a veterinary health certificate allowing poultry product exports to the Republic of Cuba.

This achievement was made possible through the efforts of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA). The official decision was communicated to ANSVSA President Alexandru Bociu by the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Romania.

The veterinary health certificate was issued based on a Resolution from Cuba’s National Animal Health Center, following inspections conducted in Romania in October 2024. As a result, Romanian poultry breeding and processing facilities have been approved for export to the Cuban market.

“Through its efforts, ANSVSA facilitates access for Romanian producers to new international markets, supporting poultry exports to the Republic of Cuba. This opportunity allows Romanian producers to capitalize on high-quality poultry production in an important external market,” stated ANSVSA President Alexandru Bociu.

This achievement highlights the essential role of ANSVSA in facilitating access for Romanian products to foreign markets, ensuring high food safety standards and compliance with veterinary health regulations. Moreover, the opening of the Cuban market represents a significant milestone for the Romanian poultry industry, contributing to export market diversification and strengthening Romania’s position as a supplier of high-quality agri-food products.

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining trade relations based on the highest food safety and quality standards, while expressing appreciation for the collaboration with Romanian authorities.
