The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) and the Caprirom South-Muntenia Cooperative in partnership with the National Mountain Zone Agency (ANZM) are organizing, from April 25th to April 27th, 2024, in the courtyard of the ministry, the 'Florii Fair', the first event promoting agri-food products from the mountainous area of Romania labeled under the quality scheme 'Mountain Product'.

The fair aims to promote products from the mountainous area, as well as to raise consumer awareness regarding local products, so that they can enjoy quality products. Through this fair, MADR aims to highlight the richness and diversity of these regions, showcasing the tradition and authentic taste of local products.

"The mountainous areas of Romania benefit from rich, valuable, and well-preserved natural resources, and MADR, through its policies and strategies, aims to contribute to the development and progress of these regions and their inhabitants.

By consuming mountain products, we support farmers in maintaining traditional agricultural activities in these areas, in order to carry on the heritage and ancient customs," said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Florin-Ionuț BARBU.

The fair will exclusively exhibit products that have obtained the 'mountain product' quality label, including dairy products, meat products, as well as processed vegetable products such as syrups, jams, zacusca, or various mushroom preserves.

The stars of the fair will be telemea cheese, caș cheese, butter, sour cream, brânza de burduf cheese, cow or sheep urda cheese, matured and spiced cheese, smoked and unsmoked cheese, as well as matured or spiced cheese.

Meat products will benefit from a generous offer, with products such as homemade sausages, pastrami, smoked pork chops, smoked bacon, peasant-style pork tenderloin, as well as fish products - trout, both smoked and fresh, trout stew with vegetables.

Those observing the Easter fast will be able to choose from a wide range of vegetable products, including syrups and jams made from fruits and berries (blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, cranberries, sea buckthorn), fresh fruits (plums, pears, apples, frozen or dried), zacusca, and various preserves made from eggplants or mushrooms (chanterelles, porcini, oyster mushrooms). Bistrița plums with walnut kernels will also be available, and honey collected from mountain flora will have a special place at the fair, alongside propolis, pollen, and royal jelly.

All products are exclusively obtained in the mountainous area of Romania, and the producers, skilled and hardworking people, will come to showcase the wealth and grandeur of the mountains from the most remote counties of the country - Alba, Maramureș, Bistrița, Harghita, Sibiu, Vrancea, Neamț.

This is the perfect opportunity to show appreciation for the diversity and richness of the mountains, for the indigenous gastronomic heritage, but above all for the local producers who, through dedication and hard work, demonstrate how valuable Romania's mountainous area is.

The fair will be open in the courtyard of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, located on Carol I Boulevard, no. 2-4, sector 3, from April 25th to April 27th, 2024, between 09:00 and 19:00. (Photo: MADR)
