World Consumer Rights Day, celebrated on March 15th each year, is a global event aimed at increasing awareness of consumer rights and needs.

Consumer rights mean that every person who purchases various products, goods, and services has the right to information about the quality, purity, price, and standard of those products.

Did you know you have the right to lodge a complaint anywhere and anytime as a consumer? Most people are not aware of their rights as consumers, so by celebrating this day, we make others aware of their right to demand protection and to be protected from fraudulent activities in the market.

The ultimate goal of World Consumer Rights Day, celebrated annually on March 15th, is to ensure that consumers have all the necessary information to make an informed decision. The history of this day is an interesting one.

Consumers International created and annually organizes World Consumer Rights Day. Consumers International is a global federation of consumer organizations founded in 1960, and the organization was established as an independent and influential voice for consumers.

World Consumer Rights Day has been celebrated since 1983, and the date of March 15th honors the speech delivered by US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy to the US Congress on March 15th, 1962. In this speech, he outlined the four fundamental rights of consumers - the right to safety, the right to be informed, the right to choose, and the right to be heard.

Since then, World Consumer Rights Day has grown in popularity and is celebrated each year with a specific theme. One of the most interesting themes, "Addressing Plastic Pollution," aimed to increase awareness of sustainable consumption and practices focusing on the manufacture and use of plastics and their impact on the environment.

Knowledge of our rights as consumers is crucial because we can identify if we are being deceived only if we know our consumer rights. Most importantly, we can raise our voice and take legal action against any purchases of products or services that violate our rights. It's all about empowering people!

On this occasion, we remind you that on May 27th and 28th, at the XIIIth edition of the Meat.Milk International Conference, Mr. Horia Constantinescu - President of ANPC, and Mr. Paul Anghel - General Director of ANPC, will once again be present in dialogue with farmers, processors, and retailers from Romania, highlighting once again that the National Authority for Consumer Protection has supported the organizers' initiative since the first edition.

Thank you ANPC!
