The Competition Council has authorized the transaction through which Elit intends to acquire Goodies Meat Production company.

Elit SRL, located in Alba County, is part of the Smithfield group, affiliated with WH Group. The Smithfield group carries out a wide range of activities in Romania, including pig farming, production, and sale of fresh meat, semi-processed meat, and processed meat, such as deli products.

Goodies Meat Production SRL, located in Prahova County, produces and sells deli products. Following the analysis, the Competition Council has found that the operation does not raise significant obstacles to effective competition in the Romanian market or in a substantial part thereof, and there are no serious doubts regarding its compatibility with a normal competitive environment.

The decision will be published on the website of the national competition authority after the removal of confidential information.
