As announced by the company, Danone Romania has obtained B Corp certification within the Central and Eastern Europe regional group, which includes Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
Danone Romania thus joins the social movement for sustainability, bringing together over 6,000 companies in more than 80 countries and 150 industries that meet rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and responsibility.
The B Corp certification is awarded to companies that meet strict standards in five categories: governance, employees, environmental impact, community, and consumers.
To receive the certification, a company must score a minimum of 80 points in the B Impact Assessment, which focuses not only on the products and services of an organization but on the entire value chain. Danone Central and Eastern Europe, including Danone Romania, scored 103.3 points.
"We are honored to achieve B Corp certification; this is evidence that we act for the benefit of all consumers, employees, partners, and the communities in which we operate. B Corp is more than a certification; it is a sustainable mindset implemented in all departments. It is the effort of all colleagues working at Danone Romania who believe in the company's mission and their potential to bring health through food to as many people as possible," said Cristina Bîcîilă, One Planet, One Health Manager, Danone Central and Eastern Europe.
The B Corp certification supports the company's global commitment to being among the world's largest multinational corporations fully certified as B Corps by 2025.
This commitment is a public acknowledgment that Danone conducts its business with a culture that involves pursuing a social and sustainability purpose in everything it does. Currently, 72.4% of Danone's operations and brands are B Corp certified.
