Compared to August 2022, the turnover volume in retail trade (excluding the trade of vehicles and motorcycles) in August 2023 increased in both the gross series by 0.6% and in the series adjusted for working days and seasonality by 1.1%.

In the period from January 1 to August 31, 2023, the turnover volume in retail trade (excluding the trade of vehicles and motorcycles) increased compared to the same period in 2022, both in the gross series by 2.4% and in the series adjusted for working days and seasonality by 2.5%.

August 2023 compared to July 2023:

• The turnover volume in retail trade (excluding the trade of vehicles and motorcycles), in the gross series, increased by 2.3% overall in August 2023 compared to the previous month, primarily due to increases in the retail trade of automotive fuels in specialized stores (+5.1%) and sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products (+4.9%). Sales of non-food products decreased by 1.3%.
• The turnover volume in retail trade (excluding the trade of vehicles and motorcycles), in the series adjusted for working days and seasonality, increased by 0.1% overall in August 2023 compared to the previous month, primarily due to increases in the retail trade of automotive fuels in specialized stores (+2.9%) and sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products (+1.6%). Sales of non-food products decreased by 2.5%.

August 2023 compared to August 2022:

• The turnover volume in retail trade (excluding the trade of vehicles and motorcycles), in the gross series, increased by 0.6% overall in August 2023 compared to August 2022, primarily due to increases in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products (+1.8%) and sales of non-food products (+0.4%). Retail trade in automotive fuels in specialized stores decreased by 1.2%.
• The turnover volume in retail trade (excluding the trade of vehicles and motorcycles), in the series adjusted for working days and seasonality, increased by 1.1% overall in August 2023 compared to August 2022, primarily due to increases in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products (+2.7%) and sales of non-food products (+1.6%). Retail trade in automotive fuels in specialized stores decreased by 1.3%.

January 1 to August 31, 2023, compared to January 1 to August 31, 2022:

• The turnover volume in retail trade (excluding the trade of vehicles and motorcycles), in the gross series, increased by 2.4% overall in the period from January 1 to August 31, 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, primarily due to increases in sales of non-food products (+3.9%) and sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products (+3.4%). Retail trade in automotive fuels in specialized stores decreased by 2.0%.
• The turnover volume in retail trade (excluding the trade of vehicles and motorcycles), in the series adjusted for working days and seasonality, increased by 2.5% overall in the period from January 1 to August 31, 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, primarily due to increases in sales of non-food products (+3.8%) and sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products (+3.1%). Retail trade in automotive fuels in specialized stores decreased by 1.3%.
