The cattle population in Romania as of June 1, 2023, compared to June 1, 2022, has decreased by 1.0%, and the breeding stock has decreased by 1.8%.
When looking at the distribution by development regions, the share of cattle populations as of June 1, 2023, compared to the same date in 2022, has increased in the Central region (+0.5 percentage points), Southeastern region (+0.3 percentage points), Northwest region (+0.2 percentage points), and Western region (+0.1 percentage point).
Cattle populations have decreased in the Northeastern region (-0.7 percentage points) and the Southwestern Oltenia region (-0.4 percentage points), while in the South Muntenia region and the Bucharest-Ilfov region, it remained constant.
Previously, according to the INS (National Institute of Statistics), the cattle populations as of June 1, 2022, had decreased by 0.7% overall and by 0.9% in breeding stock compared to June 1, 2021.
Analyzing the distribution by development regions, it was observed that the share of cattle populations as of June 1, 2022, compared to the same date in 2021, had increased in the following regions:
Cattle populations had decreased in the Southwestern Oltenia region (-0.3 percentage points), South Muntenia region (-0.2 percentage points), Southeastern region (-0.1 percentage point), while it remained constant in the Bucharest-Ilfov region.
