The Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) is making payments for state aid in the livestock sector, which were requested through payment requests for services rendered in July 2023.

The authorized amount for payment is 2,424,730.37 lei, and it is provided from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, for applicants who accessed this form of state aid in accordance with the provisions of Government Decision no. 1179/2014 on establishing a state aid scheme in the livestock sector, with subsequent modifications and additions, and in accordance with European Regulation.

The European Regulation on animal improvement contributes to the conservation of valuable animal genetic resources, the protection of biodiversity, and the production of typical regional quality products.

How? In cases where an improvement program risks endangering a particular breed, national authorities may refuse that program.

In the case of a breed already at risk of disappearing, national authorities may even temporarily carry out their own improvement program for that breed, thereby ensuring its preservation.

Finally, the regulation also includes specific rules to make it possible to reconstitute breeds that have disappeared or are at serious risk of disappearing.
